Thousands, perhaps millions, of U.S. veterans suffer hearing-related health issues ranging from ringing in their ears to hearing loss. If you’re a veteran who wore military-issued earplugs but still experiences hearing-related health issues, you may be entitled to compensation.

The Dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs by 3M were sold to the U.S. military under the guise that they provide adequate noise-reduction on the battlefield and during military exercises. If you served from 2003 to 2015, there’s a high probability that you used these earplugs. Some veterans who have used the Combat Arms earplugs say they have experienced tinnitus, or ringing in the ears, or have substantially lost their ability to hear.

According to CBS News, 3M agreed to pay $9.1 million to the government over the accusations of faulty earplugs, but admitted no liability. Veterans Joseph Junk told CBS News he’s suing 3M because he believes they failed to protect his hearing.

“We’ve just been told that, ‘this is the equipment you get and it’s the best out there. It’s gonna save your hearing,’” Junk told the news outlet. “Later on, we found out that it didn’t really protect our hearing that much at all.”

If you experience ringing in your ears, you most likely suffer from tinnitus. The Mayo Clinic defines symptoms of tinnitus as phantom noises that can sound like hissing, humming, clicking and roaring, among other phantom noises.

You will not be charged a fee unless a recovery is made for you.
